Actors Emma Kotze and Sarah Potter are joining forces to star in Wynne Bredenkamp’s return engagement of The Edge of The Light, which will run during The Cape Town Fringe Festival. Both rising stars in their own regard, Emma and Sarah have forged a unique path for themselves as performers. Emma was last seen onstage in Louis Viljoen’s Oh Baby, I’m a Wild One while Sarah captivated audiences in Philip Rademeyer’s The Graveyard and reprises her role as “Girl” in The Edge of The Light.

A lot of the magic of Sarafina Magazine is due to the photography. During this first year, six women joined the team and stepped behind the lens to carefully capture each woman that we were so tirelessly working towards representing correctly and respectfully. Each photographer stepped in, added their own take to each shoot and managed to elevate our original concept into something more exceptional than any of us could possibly have imagined. Most photos are taken candidly during our conversation which makes each image as special and as unique as catching lightning in a bottle. To commemorate our first year, each photographer was tasked to pick their top two or three favourite pictures and share with us why they selected the ones they did.

Jeri Silverman is a South African born singer-songwriter based in New York City. She writes acoustic soul-stirring melodies with a percussive folk pop edge. In 2014 she released her debut EP Leaflike. She has performed live across the US and South Africa and has lent her skills as an actor, voiceover artist and singer to numerous films, documentaries and international commercials. Magdalene Minnaar is one of those people who makes you question when she has time to sleep. She is the founder of Little Maestros and Biblioteek Productions, where she also serves as Artistic Director. She is an accomplished actress and singer, having performed the coveted role of Christine Daaé in the international touring production of The Phantom of The Opera as well as performing alongside Josh Groban during his tour to South Africa last year.
